Today, over 300,00 women are homeless in the United States. This number is not including the number of homeless trans men. Making the situation even worse, tampons and pads are not covered by SNAP (food assistance programs). Without access, unsanitary means become temporary solutions. Lack of access to period protection is a serious problem across the world. At FreeFlow, we are working to close the gap and provide period resources to those in need. Here in the United States, one in four women are without sanitary period resources. Instead are forced to create solutions, such as rags, paper bags, and newspapers or wearing an item until soiled. FreeFlow is working to provide women and trans men (and anyone else who bleeds) in need with period resources. Together with the power of donations, women and trans men bleeding in need can access period protection.
